Did you get lots of excellent guidance on how your emotional system works, and how to handle intense emotions, from school or your parents? Yeah, me neither. (If you did you should call your parents or your teachers right now and say THANK YOU!) Most of us make it into adulthood by learning to “suck it up,” or “quit your whining,” and we inevitably reach some point in our adult lives where those strategies just don’t work any more.

Or perhaps we run into situations in our parenting journeys or career paths where we feel like we just don’t know how to handle all the things life’s throwing at us. I’m well into my sixth decade (meaning I’m in my 50s if you’re not good at math!) and I’ve handled my fair share of bumps in life’s road. I’ve learned a lot about how emotions work and how to stay centered in times of challenge. What’s more, I LOVE sharing this information!
