RECOVERY COACHING

FROM RECOVERY TO DISCOVERY

I spent the better part of 2018 working in a residential treatment center for people struggling with addiction. From experiences both professional and personal, I have gained a deep understanding of and empathy for those caught in the grip of addictions. Most of these folks are emotionally sensitive — they feel things on a deeper level than most, and are usually carrying pain from wounds that struck deep at their core at an early age. This emotional sensitivity is often too much to bear, and we turn to substances that change our state in a futile attempt to not feel our feelings.

When we come to the end of our rope, when we have recognized that our current patterns of living are no longer sustainable, we may be ready for recovery. I can help with this process — we will work together to help you make sense of your feelings, uncover your core wounds and begin to heal them, and to create a structured set of daily patterns that will begin to rewire your brain and lead you toward health and wholeness.

Stopping the substance use is only the first part of the process, and what I call going from recovery to discovery is working to create a life that is filled with purpose and meaning, a life of practices that keep your emotional health moving in the right direction, a life that will fill the void that we once sought to fill with substances that over-promise and under-deliver.

I offer both individual and group therapy as part of the “recovery to discovery” process.

If you are ready to turn things around, let’s get to work discovering a new life together.
